On the morning of April 10,Professor John Board, Dean of Henley Business School of the University of Reading in Britain, and his entourage visited our school.The two schools have signed an agreement on joint training of talents and held discussions and exchanges on jointly building an international business school.

Li Hongmei, Director of the School Councilof Hainan Normal University, and Guo Jianchun, Vice PresidentofHainan Normal University, warmly received the guests at Guilinyang campus.Li Hongmei accompanied John Board to visit the Guilinyang campus and Hainan Normal UniversityNational Science Park.The two sides held a discussion in the conference room on the second floor of the science park.

At the meeting, Li Hongmei introduced the history of the school, its dominant specialties and international running of school.She mentioned that Hainan, as China’s largest special economic zone, is fully planning to build a free trade zone and a free trade port with Chinese characteristics, and needs more exchanges and cooperation with Britain. While HNU is the cradle of talent cultivation in Hainan Province,it is stepping up all-round exchanges and cooperation with foreign countries, striving to learn advanced experience from foreign universities and creating diversified ways to jointly cultivate compound talents with international vision.Li Hongmei suggested that the two parties sign an inter-school memorandum of understanding to plan a good cooperation frameworkfirst, then send teachers and exchange students to each other, finally deepen the connotation of cooperation, give full play to each other’s advantages, and discuss the joint building of the master’s “4+1” project by Henley Business School and School of Economics and Management.

John Board extended full affirmation of the high-level teaching quality and internationalized school-running features of our school.He introduced the development history of University of Reading, the general situation of the School, professional setting and characteristic courses.The dominant majors in University of Reading include education, meteorology, business management, etc. The UoR not only pays attention to the education of students, but also attaches great importance to the combination of industries.In this context, John saidUoRshares the similar educational philosophywithHNU.John mentioned that the“4+1” project at the master’s level in cooperation withSchool of Economics and Managementis of great significance for the two schools to jointly build an international business school in the future, which will eventually enable the two schools to achieve a win-win situation in the field of internationalization, and will also further promote cultural exchanges between the two countries.

Finally, the two sides signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation between Hainan Normal University and University of Reading, and a“4+1” cooperation agreement on undergraduate and master programmesbetween Hainan Normal University and Henley Business School of the University of Reading, and exchanged gifts and took photos.Officials from the Foreign Cooperation and Exchange Office, the Academic Affairs Office, the Supervision Office, the Foundation Office, the University National Science Park, the Graduate School and School of Economics and Management attended the reception forum.
