Dear class of2020 graduates:

Hello, everyone.

“The tide will bring stars, while the waves will go away”. The days in memory have passed like flying clouds, and it is the parting moment in midsummer. Here, first of all, I would like to express my warm congratulations to all the graduates! Because of the impact of the epidemic, it was impossible to hold a solemn graduation ceremony for you, and some students hurried to pack up and go far away when they failed to return to school. Today, when the whole world is still facing the epidemic, whether it is employment, further study or going abroad, it is facing unprecedented challenges and uncertainties. We all share your regrets and worries, and your sorrows and disappointments.

However, isn't that what life is all about? The ancients said, “The world is not as good as it should be, and the constant number is seven or eight.” The modern people said, “The long one is suffering, the short one is life.”. Since unhappiness often accompanies life, the key issue is attitude and choice. In the face of unhappiness, we can feel self-pity, be frustrated, but also cheer up.Shi Tiesheng, who has suffered from hardships all his life, told young people: “The limitations of destiny can always exist, but unyielding challenges cannot be lost or lacking.”

In 2020, we experienced and witnessed that under the strong leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core, 1.4 billion Chinese people gathered together to fight against the epidemic: 540,000 medical personnel in Hubei Province were in the forefront, and more than 40,000 military medical personnel rushed to Hubei for the first time, and millions of medical personnel fought in the national anti-epidemic front; More than 4.6 million grass-roots organizations of the party charge ahead, unite the masses, and build a fighting fortress against the epidemic; Millions of community workers, public security police and cadres at all levels have worked tirelessly and are on duty day and night; Tens of millions of workers from all walks of life have braved the wind and snow, and they are dedicated and persistent; Tens of millions of ordinary people join the frontline volunteer service; There are countless people who are willing to take responsibility and help each other. There is no doubt that this includes everyone who consciously isolates, wears a mask, and resists epidemics at home; Everyone who doesn't believe in rumors and doesn’t preach rumors; Everyone who consciously cooperates with the implementation of community and school epidemic prevention regulations; Everyone who insists on completing graduation defense and adapts to online job hunting. Your courage and strength far exceed your imagination. “People can be born as ants and beautiful as gods.” You should be proud of yourself. As secretaries and principals, we are also proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with you to fight the epidemic! I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to you for your trust and support in school work!

Students, now that you have graduated, you are about to enter a new stage of life cultivation. In the future, there will be a lot of confusion and stumbling, but we believe that after years of study and the “big exam” on epidemic prevention, your knowledge, skills and courage have been greatly improved compared with those when you entered the campus. General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out that youth shines through tempering and life sublimates through struggle, and sent a message to young people in the new era that they should strengthen their ideals and beliefs, stand firm in the people’s position, practice excellent skills and devote themselves to the great cause of strengthening the country. In the days to come, I hope you will keep in mind the general secretary’s entrustment and always keep your sincerity and sincerity to the country, nation and family; Always be brave and persistent in the face of suffering and truth; Always keep the consciousness and openness of guarding morality and rationality; Always have the desire and passion to explore the unknown and the future; Always be generous and generous in giving warmth to others. From now on, bring your knowledge, skills and virtues to pursue your dreams, and contribute to building a strong socialist modernization country, realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and building a better world. “Life is not a short candle, but a torch held by us temporarily. We must burn it very brightly and then give it to the next generation”.

Paper is limited and love is unlimited. I’d like to use Li Bai’s poems to send you a wish: I will mount a long wind some day and break the heavy waves, and set my cloudy sail straight and bridge the deep, deep sea. Finally, please believe and remember that you will always be children of Hainan Normal University. The alma mater will always care for you, support you and bless you!
