On the morning of Teacher’s Day on September 10th, HNU held a commendation conference to celebrate the 36th Teacher’s Day and the “Garden Award” in the academic year of 2019-2020, extended festive greetings to teachers and educators of the whole school, and called on the faculty and staff of the whole school to follow the advanced example, further exert their initiative, enthusiasm and creativity, and create a strong atmosphere of respecting teachers and teaching in the whole school to better promote the development of various undertakings.

The meeting was presided over by President Lin Qiang.Wang Bin, an alumnus who graduated in 1985 from Chinese Department of HNU, all the school leaders, all middle-level cadres, retired faculty members, new staff members, representatives of teachers from various colleges, and commended advanced collectives and individuals attended the meeting.

After everyone stood up and sang the national anthem, Diao Xiaoping, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Hainan Normal University, read out the “Decision on Recognition of Garden Award” in the 2019-2020 academic year.

School leaders such as Li Hongmei and Lin Qiang watched the feature films of the “Garden Award” teams and individuals in the 2019-2020 academic year, and presented awards to the groups and individuals who won the “Garden Award”.

Qi Wendong, winner of collective award of “Garden Award” and representative of rural revitalization team, and Luo Zhigang, winner of individual award of “Garden Award” and teacher of School of Informatics, made speeches on poverty alleviation and teaching work respectively. Sun Xiaotong, a teacher from the School of Foreign Languagesas a new teacher representative, and Lou Enji from School of Literatureas a student representativespoke on personal development planning.

They said that they would bear in mind the entrustment of General Secretary Xi Jinping, learn from General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important expositions on education, grasp the rare historical opportunity faced by Hainan and HNU in the context of the construction of Hainan Free Trade Port, and continue to make greater contributions to the development of the school and Hainan Province.

At the graduation ceremony, Lin Qiang presented flowers and gifts to the representatives of retired teachers. Vice President Li Sen led the representatives of new teachers to take the oath of office. Vice President Shi Haitao led the faculty and staff present to make a public commitment to teachers’ ethics.

Li Hongmei, Secretary of the Party Committee of HNU, delivered a speech, extending festive greetings and lofty respects to retired comrades who have made important contributions to the construction and development of the university, extending sincere welcome to new employees who have just entered Hainan Normal University, and expressing warm congratulations to advanced individuals and collectives who have been commended today. She reviewed the “Two Deep Integrations” and “Two Action Plans” in recent years, and made new progress and achievements in personnel training, scientific research and construction, teaching staff, foreign cooperation and exchanges, and social services.

Li Hongmei emphasized that under the background of building a free trade port in Hainan, striving to be the dreamer of building a free trade port in Hainan is the current task and mission of HNU. Wemust keep in mind the initial intention and mission of “educating people for the party and cultivating talents for the country”; Maintain the feelings and love of “people’s teachers, supreme glory”; Practice the morality and style of “high knowledge and moral integrity”; Strengthen the belief and confidence of “dedicating to the Free Trade Port and Striving for the Free Trade Port”.

Lin Qiang demanded that comrades should further enhance their sense of work responsibility, constantly strengthen their study, establish themselves by virtue, learn by virtue and teach by virtue, truly shoulder the sacred duty of teaching and educating people, and make new and greater contributions to deepening the reform of education and teaching and promoting the development of various undertakings in schools.

Finally, the awarding ceremony ended successfully in the melodious school song.

It is reported that the “Garden Award” was donated by Wang Bin, Chairman of Haikou Tianbao Jiayuan Industrial Co., Ltd. and an alumnus who graduated in 1985 from Chinese Department of HNU.
