The Opening Ceremony of the First “Chinese Debate Competition between Chinese and Malaysian College Students”Was Successfully Held

On December 2nd, the online Opening Ceremony of the First “Chinese Debate Competition between Chinese and Malaysian College Students” held by Hainan Normal University and the Confucius Institute of SEGi University of Malaysiawas successfully held. The competition aims to further strengthen youth exchanges between China and Malaysia, promote the development of friendly relations between China and Malaysia, and carry forward the traditional cultural spirit of the Chinese nation.

Professor Guo Jianchun, Vice-President of Hainan Normal University, Counselor Zhao Changtao of Chinese Embassy in Malaysia attended the opening ceremony, and experts and scholars from all over the country, Chinese and foreign directors of five Confucius Institutes in Malaysia and four expert consultants of debate competitions attended the opening ceremony. More than 100 delegates from China and Malaysia’s debate judges and students from various debate teams participated in the competition.

Professor Guo Jianchun, Vice President of Hainan Normal University, Professor Qiu Meilan, CEO of SEGi Group, and Counselor Zhao Changtao of Chinese Embassy in Malaysia delivered welcoming speeches for the opening ceremony of the debate competition respectively. They pointed out that this debate competition is a beneficial attempt to promote the students in China and Malaysia to learn speculation, exchange ideas, spiritual growth and common progress. They hoped that the Chinese and Malaysian college debaters who participated in this debate competition would actively mobilize their wisdom and rationality, fully display their abilities and qualities, fully interpret the language and cultural charm of Chinese, and achieve the purpose of strengthening communication, exchanging skills, enlightening wisdom, harmonious integration and common progress.

This debate has received strong support from the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia. It is hoped that this debate will be taken as an opportunity to further deepen exchanges and cooperation with other peer colleges and universities, and jointly make greater contributions to the in-depth development of cultural exchanges between China and Malaysia.
