    On the afternoon of September 27, 2022, the Seventh Council Meeting of Confucius Institute, SEGi University, Malaysia was held online successfully. 9 council members from partner universities of the Confucius Institute, i.e. Hainan Normal University and SEGi University, Malaysia attended the meeting.

    President Guo Jianchun of Hainan Normal University made a speech first. She expressed affirmation to work of the Confucius Institute in 2021, set higher requirements for work of the Confucius Institute in the future, and prospected the educational cooperation and cultural exchange between China and Malaysia.

    Then, President Azrin Esmady of SEGi University delivered a speech. He expressed his gratitude for hardworking of all staffs from the Confucius Institute and appreciated the success of the Confucius Institute in holding the first “Chinese Debate Competition of Chinese and Malaysian College Students”, “the Belt and Road” forum, “Calligraphy Exchange of Chinese and Malaysian Adolescents”, etc. and expected both parties’ exchange and cooperation to a higher level.

    The Council reviewed the 2021 Annual Report and 2022 Work Plan of the Confucius Institute, and by show of hands, both parties unanimously passed the Annual Report and Work Plan.

    At last, Hainan Normal University and SEGi University reached a consensus on assisting SEGi University in application for bachelor’s and master’s degree in Chinese Education, and their cooperation in holding the second “Chinese Debate Competition of Chinese and Malaysian College Students”, organizing research activities on Malaysian calligraphy education and inheritance, improving the level of Chinese debate team of Hainan Normal University and SEGi University and setting up elementary Chinese online classes for Malaysian students.

    Office of Academic Affairs, Graduate School, Office of Foreign Cooperation and Exchange, College of International Education, School of Literature attended this meeting.
