On the morning of September 2nd, the opening ceremony of the "Maritime Silk Road: Contemporary Art Exhibition," funded by the National Art Foundation for Communication, Exchange, and Promotion,was held at the Art Museum of Hainan Normal University. Xia Fei, Secretary of the Party Group and Chairman of the Provincial Federation of Literary and Art Circles, attended and announced the opening of the exhibition. Xu Mei, Secretary of the School Party Committee ; Hu Wei, former Deputy Director of the China Art Museum; and Ruan Jianghua, Vice Chairman of the Provincial Federation of Literary and Art Circles and Chairman of the Provincial Artists Association, attended and delivered speeches.

At the opening ceremony, Xu Mei warmly welcomed the experts and scholars present. She expressed that as a key university in Hainan Province, Hainan Normal University shouldered the responsibility and cultivated outstanding talents with patriotism and international vision for the "Belt and Road" strategy and the construction of a free trade port. The "Maritime Silk Road: Contemporary Art Exhibition" hosted by the Academy of Fine Arts was impressive. It is not only an exhibition of art works but also a culturally oriented exhibition and a teaching and research-led exhibition.

Professor Hu Wei, the project leader of the tour, introduced that this exhibition depicts the theme of the ancient Maritime Silk Road, which was an ingenious idea that collided with contemporary art and is a continuation of an ancient story. The exhibition made visitors intuitively feel the sea of time and space spanning thousands of years, thereby generated thinking and enlightenment about history, culture, and human destiny.

Ruan Jianghua pointed out in his speech that this exhibition has played an important role in promoting art creation in Hainan Province and has practical significance and a guiding role in "inviting in and going out" Hainan art, expanded the influence of Hainan art school, and created a beautiful literary and artistic business card in Hainan.

According to the head of the Party Committee of the Academy of Fine Arts, the Hainan Normal University Art Museum has been nominated by the National Art Fund Management Center as the only university art museum among the 22 selected venues this year. In the future, the Academy of Fine Arts will undertake more high-quality academic exhibitions, use art museums as opportunities to continuously expand the academic influence of the Academy, promote the construction of campus aesthetic education, and promote the overall improvement of the teaching level and scientific research strength of the Academy.

After the opening ceremony, leaders such as Xu Mei and Xia Fei watched the exhibits with great interest. Experts such as Ruan Jianghua highly recognized the Chinese cultural spirit presented in the works, and Professor Hu Wei had a cordial exchange and interaction with teachers and students.

Experts and scholars from provincial art associations, Hainan University, and other institutions, as well as representatives of participating artists, attended the exhibition. The exhibition will continue until September 20th.
