To effectively manage laboratory safety, our school conducted a laboratory safety training activity with the theme "Building a Solid Experimental Safety Defense Line and Building a Harmonious and Safe Campus" from October 16th to 17th. Xu Mei, Secretary of the Party Committee of our school, visited the laboratory safety emergency drill site for observation.
This event was hosted by the Laboratory Construction and Management Center and organized by units such as the Security Office, Affiliated Hospital, School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, School of Life Sciences, and Library. The activity was divided into two stages: laboratory safety knowledge lectures and emergency drills.
On the afternoon of the 16th, Professor Zhang Yanhua, a laboratory safety inspection expert from the Ministry of Education and a professor from Northeast Forestry University, was invited to the Guilin Yang Campus to give a special lecture on "Laboratory Safety Emergency Training: Fire Safety, Chemical Leakage, and Hydrogen Leakage" in the academic lecture hall on the first floor of the library. The lecture focused on the safety work, fire safety, chemical hazards and prevention, laboratory gas leakage, and other aspects of the university laboratory. The report was vivid and specific, which made teachers and students deeply aware of the importance of laboratory safety, strengthened safety awareness, and inspired a stronger sense of responsibility and mission.
On the 17th, our school conducted emergency drills for hydrogen cylinder leakage, acetone reagent leakage, indoor fire evacuation, and outdoor fire extinguisher operation in the 301 and 302 laboratories of the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering on Guilin Yang Campus, as well as in the Student Activity Center Square. The drill was presided over by the person in charge of the laboratory construction and management center. Xu Mei came to the scene to observe and affirm the laboratory safety training and accident emergency drill.
This laboratory safety training activity was conducive to further enhancing the safety awareness of all teachers and students, as well as their ability to respond to laboratory safety emergencies. It truly achieved that everyone would be capable of emergency response, ensured that they could be familiar with emergency plans and operating procedures in future experiments, enhanced their psychological quality and pressure resistance in the face of emergencies, scientifically and reasonably handled accidents, protected themselves and others, and minimized the harm of accidents to the greatest extent possible. At the same time, it also tested the effective coordination and cooperation between various departments and individuals in the school, optimized resource allocation, improved the efficiency of emergency response and collaborative combat capabilities, and provided a solid guarantee for creating a safe and stable laboratory environment.
About 600 people, including heads of relevant functional departments, deputy deans in charge of each college, teachers, laboratory management personnel, and students, participated in this event.
