On the morning of October 24th, the opening ceremony of the 2023 Hainan Province Primary and Secondary School Mental Health Education Teacher Qualification Training Program was held in Haikou. 

Li Yanyi, Deputy Director of the Education Department of Hainan Province, and Han Xiaoyu, Vice Principal of our school, attended the ceremony. The 150 students from the first batch of Hainan Province's mental health education teacher qualification training program attended the ceremony. 

Li Yanyi pointed out that the current mental health problems of primary and secondary school students were prominent, and it was urgent to strengthen mental health education. The qualification training for mental health education teachers in primary and secondary schools in Hainan Province was a vital measure to fully implement the requirements of the "Implementation Plan for the Special Action of Protecting Minors" by the Provincial Department of Education and to fill the gaps in the full-time and part-time staffing of mental health education teachers in primary and secondary schools in our province. Hainan Province will comprehensively strengthen the construction of the teaching staff for mental health education and enhance the professional abilities of primary and secondary school mental health teachers. It is hoped that the trainees will cherish the opportunity of this training, study diligently, understand with heart, and strive to become a backbone force in the field of mental health education in our province as soon as possible.

Han Xiaoyu stated that as the training organizer, our school will start from three aspects: "laying the foundation," "emphasizing practice," and "multi form" based on the characteristics and needs of mental health education. We will carefully design the training plan and do our best to run it. Meanwhile, through this training and further in-depth research, the school will explore and develop a set of qualification training and in-service training course systems and train models for primary and secondary school mental health education teachers that comply with scientific laws and meet the needs of Hainan, reflecting the professional mission and contribution of Hainan Normal University.

At the launching ceremony, Chen Meixi, vice principal of Kang'an School in Xiuying District, Haikou City, made a speech.

The 2023 Hainan Province Primary and Secondary School Mental Health Education Teacher Qualification Training Project was an important measure to promote the construction of the mental health education teacher team and comprehensively improve the level of mental health education in primary and secondary schools in Hainan Province. This project selected 300 teachers throughout the province, relied on the educational advantages of the School of Psychology and the School of Teacher Education of Hainan Normal University, integrated high-quality educational resources from both inside and outside the province, and conducted a 10-day qualification training for primary and secondary school mental health education teachers in two phases.
