On the afternoon of October 24, our school held a series of science and engineering research meetings in the Tian Jiabing Teaching Building of the Longkun South Campus. The meeting was divided into three stages: an academic report, a signing ceremony, and a seminar. Professor Chen Xiangsong, the president, attended the meeting. Teachers and students from the School of Physics and Electronic Engineering, leaders of the Propaganda Department of the University Party Committee and the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, all members of the editorial department of the Academy of Science and Technology and the Natural Science Edition of "Journal of Hainan Normal University”, and members of the team from the School of Science and Engineering attended the meeting.

Chen Xiangsong first gave a rigorous and concise academic report on "Basic Principles and Basic Issues in Physics" for teachers and students of physics and electronics. He pointed out that young students have great potential and must take action. They should adhere to the original mission of scientific research, have a sense of patriotism, seek truth and pragmatism, and improve their academic and scientific research levels.

After the report meeting, a signing ceremony was held between the Self Science Edition of the Journal of Hainan Normal University and the academic achievements of scholars from the School of Physics and Electronics for internal publication. This measure aimed to explore and solve the problem of "two ends outside" in China's basic research topic selection and published results and create a relaxed research atmosphere.

The third phase of the 2023 scientific research work seminar of the School of Natural Sciences was held in the Tianjiabing 206 conference room. The secretaries, deans, deputy deans of scientific research of various colleges of natural sciences, all staff of the Academy of Science and Technology, and representatives of relevant functional departments attended the meeting.

At the meeting, various natural science colleges introduced their landmark achievements in the past five years and elaborated on their future research priorities and scientific goals based on their current development status. Chen Xiangsong provided targeted answers to the opinions of various colleges.

Chen Xiangsong put forward three requirements for the next development of the school's natural sciences: Chen Xiangsong proposed three requirements for the next step in the development of natural science in schools: firstly, the research management department and researchers should put down their burdens, liberate their minds, free themselves from inherent thinking, and work steadfastly; The second is to firmly adhere to the mission of cultivating moral character and talents in schools, return to the original intention of educating people, and return scientific research and subject development to the purest state; Thirdly, we need to go light and plan for the future scientific research development of the school, focusing on what should be done, what is worth doing, and what can be done.
