Hainan Normal University Holds the 2024 Undergraduate Graduation Ceremony and Degree Conferral

On the morning of June 21st, Hainan Normal University held the 2024 Undergraduate Graduation Ceremony and Degree Conferral at the Student Activity Center within the Guilinyang campus. A total of 4,842 undergraduates were awarded their Bachelor's Degrees. The event was attended by members of the university's leadership, including Xu Mei, Chen Xiangsong, Fu Liucai, Yang Ziju, Wang Yu, Liu Rubing, Han Xiaoyu, Zhang Yin, Bai Xianliang, and Wang Renbin, as well as heads of various administrative departments and colleges, faculty representatives, alumni representatives, family members, and the graduating students. The ceremony is presided over by Bai Xianliang, standing member of the Party Committee and Vice President of the university.


The ceremony began with the solemn rendition of the national anthem. A sand art video, created by He Sudan, a teacher from the School of Primary Education, was shown on the big screen. The video depicted familiar scenes from campus life, meant to evoke fond memories for the graduates.


Pang Wenwen, a graduate from the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, delivered a speech as a representative of the graduating class. She shared her four years of university life and her growth alongside the university, expressing her deep gratitude to her alma mater and her teachers.


Zhao Longhui, a teacher from the School of Life Sciences and a 2014 undergraduate of Hainan Normal University, spoke next. He reflected on his own journey from being a student to becoming a teacher, encouraging the graduates to manage their time wisely in today’s fast-paced world and to always maintain a positive, forward-looking attitude. He urged them to boldly pursue their dreams and make the most of their youthful years.


Alumni representative Kang Di, Chairman of Hengsheng Group, shared his own personal story of perseverance and success, encouraging the graduates to remain grounded,  advance step by step, and always believe in the power of their dreams, nevergive up.


In his address, President Chen Xiangsong offered four key hopes for the graduates: First of all, to persist in your passion, grow upwards, and nurture your dreams with passion: He hoped the graduates would stay true to themselves in the face of external pressures and continue to pursue their dreams with love and dedication. Second, to work hard, take responsibility, and forge character through action: He encouraged the graduates to remember their mission as youth of the new era, to be problem-solvers, to approach each task with diligence, and to tackle challenges with determination, showcasing the strength of their generation. Thirdly, to embrace innovation, pursue excellence, and greet the world with a fresh perspective: No matter what career path you choose in the future, strive to become pioneers of the new era. Maintain a steady pace of innovation, meet new challenges with professionalism and fearless determination, and approach your work with a spirit of continuous improvement. With this enthusiastic mindset, continue to write new chapters of innovation and contribute to the development and strengthening of the nation. Last but not least, to keep history in mind, remain steadfast, and use wisdom to grasp the bigger picture: He hoped that students  maintain an unwavering perseverance, with the “strategic calm to stay composed amidst challenges”. To uphold the spirit of relentless progress, exemplified by the saying “He who has never been to the Great Wall is not a true hero”. To contribute your youth and strength to the realization of the second centennial goal of building a modern socialist country, to the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, and to its long-term sustainable development.


Deputy Secretary of CPC Fu Liucai announced the recognition of outstanding graduates and student leaders. Standing member of the Party Committee, Vice President Wang Yu read the appointment document for the 2024 alumni liaison officers, and Vice President Han Xiaoyu announced the decision to confer Bachelor’s Degrees.


Party Secretary Xu Mei presented badges to the newly appointed alumni liaisons. One by one, graduates from each college came on stage, where university leaders and members of the Degree Evaluation Committee ceremonially adjusted their tassels and presented them with degree certificates.


During the ceremony, students from the School of Music performed the university’s original cultural piece “Youth Nurtures Hope”, igniting the passion of the audience. Graduating students then performed the song “Into the Sea”, with heartfelt lyrics resonating deeply.


“I believe we will meet again, and I believe we will all be doing well.” The graduation ceremony concluded successfully with the graduates’ flash mob performance of “Don't Say Goodbye”.
