The School of Tourism Wins Second Prize in the 2nd China College Student Tourism Management Virtual Simulation Competition

May 19th marked the 14th “China Tourism Day”. On the same day, the finals of the 2nd China College Student Tourism Management Virtual Simulation Competition and the closing ceremony and award presentation of the “iNansha Youth in Action” Nansha All-Destination Travel Short Video Challenge took place in Guangzhou. A team from our university’s School of Tourism, consisting of Pei Yifan, Guan Shiping, Xu Linglong, and Xu Ruotong, won second prize in the finals. Their project proposal, titled “Xiansuiju – A Theme Homestay Featuring Dan Culture”, was awarded the “Excellent Rural Revitalization Project Proposal” Award. Additionally, Zhu Zhimin received the Title of “Outstanding Instructor” .


The competition was jointly organized by the Tourism Education Branch of the China Tourism Association, the School of Tourism and Service at Nankai University, the Nansha District Committee of the Communist Youth League, and Guangzhou Nansha Asset Management Group Co., Ltd. A total of 526 teams from 163 universities, including those from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, with nearly 3,000 students, actively participated within the event. After a month of intense preliminary rounds, 224 teams advanced to the finals, where our school’s team competed alongside students from Nankai University, Jinan University, Hainan University, Guangdong University of Finance and Economics, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Macau University of Science and Technology, and others, showcasing excellent professional skills and on-the-spot adaptability. Notably, the “Xiansuiju – A Theme Homestay Featuring Dan Culture” proposal was one of only six awarded the “Excellent Rural Revitalization Project Proposal” prize. The organizers will recommend the proposal to Guangzhou Nansha Asset Management Group Co., Ltd., with the potential for implementation.


Since its establishment in 2015, the School of Tourism has actively adapted to the university’s “new economic development normal and new educational requirements”, focusing on the deep integration of theoretical and practical teaching, and cultivating students’ innovative spirits and practical abilities. This award fully demonstrates the school’s distinctive approach of “teaching through competition, learning through competition” , and highlights its effectiveness in training high-level, cross-cultural, and innovative talents in the field of tourism management.
