From March 26th to 29th, the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2024 was held in Boao, Hainan. A total of 192 student volunteers from our university positively participated in the volunteer service activities for the event, including 170 volunteers from the School of Foreign Languages.
During the annual conference, the volunteers from the State Banquet Group greeted domestic and international guests with enthusiasm and confidence, providing thoughtful and meticulous services that conveyed the warmth of the Hainan Free Trade Port. With their strong professionalism and dedicated spirit, the students from our School of Tourism demonstrated their exceptional qualities. Volunteers in the New Media and Logistics Support Group worked at the News Center, distributing bilingual invitations to media reporters and answering related inquiries. They also assisted journalists in booking interview rooms, managed the organization of storage lockers, and handled the lending, returning, and registration of simultaneous interpretation equipment. Additionally, they ensured the timely replenishment of books and materials that showcased the spirit and unique characteristics of China. Volunteer tour guides for the Beautiful Villages initiative introduced and promoted the achievements of Qionghai's rural development to domestic and international guests, sharing vibrant stories of Hainan and contributing to rural revitalization. Volunteers in the Boao Hotel Service Group were responsible for welcoming guests at the hotel, providing translation services for foreign visitors, answering calls between departments, and promptly addressing guest concerns. Their warm and enthusiastic approach ensured that all attendees enjoyed a comfortable and satisfying experience.
It is reported that our university places great emphasis on volunteer service for the Boao Forum for Asia, sending a large number of outstanding student volunteers every year to support the forum. To ensure the success of the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2024, four organizations—Hainan Provincial Foreign Affairs Office, Hainan Provincial Publicity Department, the Qionghai Youth League Committee, and COSCO Shipping Ports Limited—jointly issued recruitment notices to our university for student volunteers. In response, our university formed a working group to carry out a series of tasks, including mobilization, registration, interviews, group training, and recognition and commendation activities. The School of Foreign Languages selected volunteers for positions such as those in the Forum Secretariat of the Foreign Affairs Office, the New Media and Logistics Support Group, the Beautiful Villages Volunteer Guides, and the Boao Hotel Service Group. The School of Tourism selected volunteers for the State Banquet Group as guest attendants. Our students fully embodied the spirit of our university by applying their solid professional knowledge to serve the Boao Forum for Asia. They told the stories of Hainan and China to the world, earning unanimous praise from the recruiting organizations and showcasing the enthusiasm and responsibility of young students from Hainan Normal University.
