To further promote innovation and entrepreneurship education and deepen the reform of the talent training model, our university held the 2024 China International College Students’ Innovation Competition School-level Launch Ceremony and Competition at the Guilinyang Campus on June 23rd. Party Secretary Xu Mei attended the event to guide the competition, while Vice President Han Xiaoyu delivered an opening speech, and Party Standing Committee member and Vice President Bai Xianliang visited the students participating in the competition. Representatives from various departments, guiding teachers, and participating students also attended the opening ceremony.

While observing the student presentations, Xu Mei emphasized that hosting the innovation competition is a key measure for the university to fulfill the fundamental task of fostering moral education. It helps drive the integration of the “five educational targets” (moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetic, and labor education) and cultivates students’ innovation and entrepreneurship capabilities. The competition also serves as a comprehensive test of the university’s teaching and research level, collaborative education outcomes, and social service ability, as well as an important display to showcase the university’s comprehensive development strength. She encouraged all faculty and students to positively participate in the 2024 Innovation Competition and put into practice the competition’s overall goal of being “more Chinese style, more international, more educational, more comprehensive, more innovative, and more collaborative”. She inspired them to let their youthful energy flourish in the vibrant innovation practices of building a socialist modernized country, and to contribute their wisdom and strength to the university’s goal of becoming a first-class normal university.

In her opening speech, Han Xiaoyu stressed that our university has always regarded student innovation and entrepreneurship as an essential part of education and teaching, adhering to a continuous innovation and entrepreneurship education “throughout the four years without interruption”. The university promotes the integration of industry and education, science and education, specialty and innovation, and collaborative improvement, constantly enhancing students’ innovation and practical abilities. She encouraged all faculty and students to positively participate in the competition, to explore, create, and practice with wisdom and passion. She also called on everyone to strengthen unity and collaboration, exhibit tenacity, and fully embody the spirit of fearlessness, responsibility, and innovation during the competition, allowing their own brilliance to shine through!

It was reported that, to improve the quality and level of innovation education, the university adheres to the general principles of “promoting teaching through competition”, “promoting learning through competition”, and “promoting innovation through competition”, maintaining strict quality control over competition projects. This year’s competition received 1,120 submissions from 22 schools, involving over 10,000 students—setting a new record for both the number of projects and participants within the competition. After a rigorous selection process, 282 projects were chosen for presentations, with the best being selected to participate in the provincial level competition.
